Stephen grew up in Bromley where he learnt with Ray Allen, and held the position of principal trumpet with the award winning Concert Band and Symphony Orchestra at Bromley Music Trust. He was subsequently invited to join the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, where he was coached by Peter Gane, John Miller and Patrick Harrild.

Currently completing his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Stephen has learnt with Paul Beniston, Paul Cosh, Anne McAneney and natural trumpet with Steve Keavy. During his time there, he performed with various ensembles including the symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra and as a soloist with the contemporary UBU Ensemble. As a soloist, he recently reached the final of the Guildhall Armourers and Brasiers Brass Prize, in addition to the up-and-coming Newark Brass Festival.

Stephen is also a busy freelance musician, performing in various shows, orchestras and chamber ensembles, including the Philharmonia Orchestra Brass Quintet and side-by- projects with the Philharmonia and LSO. Outside of performing, he teaches privately and has worked with the LSO on their education schemes. He currently plays with the Quintabile Brass Quintet which has enjoyed a successful recent tour to the Isle of Man, and extends his versatility to playing with the function band Pandora’s Jukebox.
