Soprano Leigh Rhianon Coggins is from Bridgend in Mid Glamorgan, South Wales. She graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, with a BMus (Hons) in Voice in 2009. Leigh is under the tuition of John Llewellyn Evans.

Leigh attended the Junior Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama for four years, where she studied singing with Delyth Cresswell. While at the JRWCMD Leigh won the ‘South Wales Evening Post Singer of the Year’ twice, in 2003 and 2005. Studying at JRWCMD has given Leigh many performance opportunities such as performing as a soloist at the Millennium Centre, singing for the MP Rhodri Morgan, and singing in venues all over South and Mid Wales.

Leigh has performed many times with Maesteg Côr Meibion and Cowbridge Male Voice Choir at many venues across Britain.

Leigh’s recent roles include “Cosette’ and ‘Ensemble’ for Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Les Miserables on the 25th Anniversary Tour and ‘Cosette’ at the Olivier Awards 2010, ‘Frasquita’ for Swindon Opera’s Carmen by Bizet, ‘Sophie’ in Strauss’ Die Rosenkavalier, Little Venice Opera Scenes Gala, ‘Madame Warblewell’ in Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor, Little Venice Opera Scenes Gala, ‘Yum Yum’ in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado, Guildhall School of Music and Drama Ensemble Scenes, ‘Anne Trulove’ in Stravinsky’s The Rakes Progess, Guildhall School of Music and Drama Ensemble Scenes, ‘Letter Writer’ in Matt Brind’s Only the Brave (world premiere).

Leigh has perfomed ‘Candide’ and ‘The Rakes Progress’ with Welsh National Youth Opera. She has also performed Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni in Italy with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama which was also performed in the Barbican Hall in 2008. Most recently, she performed ‘La Boheme’ with Longborough Festival 2009.

Leigh entered the National Eisteddfod 2008 and came 1st in the 19-25 Oratorio competition, 1st in the 19-25 Lieder competition and won the Most Outstanding Soprano in the Osborne Roberts competition.

Leigh also won the Oratorio competition at the Pontrhydfendigaid Eisteddfod in May 2009.

Leigh was ‘Cosette’ with the Barbican company and ‘Ensemble’ for Cameron Mackintosh’s 25th Anniversary Concert performance of Les Miserables at the O2 and Leigh was recently involved in T Mobile’s new advert that took place at Heathrow Terminal 5.
