Alice completed her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and on the English National Opera Opera Works course.
Alice most recently sang the role of Maurya in Riders to the Sea (Ralph Vaughan Williams) at the Rosemary Branch Theatre in London. Prior to that she completed a season and tour as a member of the Glyndebourne Chorus, participating in Giulio Cesare in Egitto, (Handel), L’elisir d’amore (Donizetti), Falstaff (Verdi), Jenůfa, (Janáček). In May this year she will begin work with the Garsington Opera ensemble in Rossini's Armida. In June she will sing the role of Carmen in Carmen (Bizet).
New music Alice has premiered includes two song cycles, Notes on Love and Notes on the City, written for two voices and piano by composer Joseph Atkins and two new works by composer Matthew Lee Knowles, premiered at the Wigmore Hall and the Louise T Blouin Institute in London. She also premiered Katie Butler’s song cycle, Air Pearlings for voice and piano, at the Guildhall.
At Guildhall she performed roles in a number of opera scenes including: Charlotte Werther, (Massenet), Poppea, L’incoronazione di Poppea, (Monteverdi) and Nancy in Albert Herring, (Britten). In Italy she has also sung the lead in scenes from Cenerentola (Rossini) and Marcellina, Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart). She toured summer 2007 with Bampton Classical Opera, singing ensemble and a minor solo role in the UK premier of George Benda’s Romeo and Juliet. In summer 2006 she worked for Holland Park Opera Chorus.
Recent oratorio engagements include: Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Bray, Rossini Petite Messe Sollenelle, Surrey, Handel’s Judas Maccabaeus, Bach Choir, the Mozart Requiem at St Peter’s, Holborn, Carrissimi’s Jepthe, St Magnus the Mater London, Durufle Requiem with the Cambridge Orchestra.
