Aodán McCardle collaborated with Sam Smith to create Tellsong.
I am a poet and painter, father, husband and son, amongst other things and not particularly in that order.
I have just had a book of poetry published in conjunction with two other poets, Piers Hugill and Stephen Mooney, as SHUDDERED by Veer Books. Rather than three books in one this volume reflects the intermingling of ideas and practice that took place over a five year period when the three of us met as members of the CPRC Contemporary Poetics Research Centre at Birkbeck and at the instigation of Piers Hugill became a part of the poetry collective London Under Construction LUC.
As a co-editor at the CPRC I work with others on the web journals PORES and Readings and have helped run conferences, readings and performances of contemporary poetry and poetics. I am currently finishing a Ph.D. on Action and the Autonomous Poem in contemporary poetry especially in relation to the poets Frank O'Hara, Ulli Freer, Maggie O'Sullivan, Stephen Mooney, Lee Harwood and Barry MacSweeney.
I am a co-editor at Veer Books. Veer Books is committed to publishing work that tests the limits of poetic form.
London Under Construction is a grouping of poets that as Doug Jones put it are 'facing in the same direction'. The work is written/performed for and during a given situation, place, presence. It has failure as a vector within its impulse. LUC are having a sabbatical at the moment as the members are spread throughout the world but we do hope to archive the performances we have done so far and have them available on a website next year.
