Theodoros Chatzidis (b. 1982) studied piano and music theory in Cyprus at the ARTE Music Academy (former Greek College of Music) from where he obtained the certificate in music theory with distinction. In 2003 he went to study with Lazaros Delidimos at the Central Conservatoire of Thessaloniki (Greece) and graduated in 2006 with a degree in Harmony (Excellent). He continued his studies at the State Conservatoire of Thessaloniki with Costas Tsoungras and received in 2008 the degree in Counterpoint (Excellent). In 2011 Theodoros graduated from Brunel University with a First class BMus (Hons) degree under the supervision of John Woolrich.
He studied music composition with Harald Muenz, Colin Riley, piano with Sarah Nicolls, Sally Goodworth and Conducting with Peter Wiegold. He has also taken seminars with Christopher Fox and Richard Barrett.
The School of Arts, Brunel University in 2011 awarded him the ‘’STEVE THOMAS MEMORIAL PRIZE FOR COMPOSITION’’.
He has composed works for solo piano, piano duo, piano trio, solo cello, string quartet, double string quartet and orchestra. His recent work ‘’Thesis and Antithesis’’ for orchestra, has been performed by the Southbank Sinfonia under the leadership of Peter Wiegold.
Theodoros is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Music Composition at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
