Tenor Ciarán O'Leary was born in Ireland's southern capital, Cork, but grew up in County Wicklow. He is a former student of the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the renowned teacher Mary Brennan. Having worked as a Civil Engineer since graduating from Trinity College Dublin in 2004, he recently began a Masters in Music Performance degree course at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama studying with Professor Adrian Thompson.
Ciarán has played the part of 'Nicely-nicely' in Guys & Dolls and 'Frederic' in The Pirates of Penzance. He has sung tenor solo in Stainer's 'The Crucifixion', Britten's 'Rejoice in the Lamb', Orff's 'Carmina Burana' at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, and Mozart's 'Misa Brevis in C major' at the National Concert Hall and the University Concert Hall, Limerick.
In concert he has performed with ensembles such as the Irish Army Number 1 Band, the Band of the Irish Police Force, An Garda Síochana, the County Kildare Orchestra, and the RIAM Chamber Orchestra, and in venues such as the National Gallery of Ireland, Castletown House, Russborough House, and the US Ambassador’s Residence, Dublin.
Ciarán has received a Travel & Training Award from the Arts Council of Ireland.
