Wenjing, born in Shanghai in China, was educated at Shanghai Music High School from 1999 to 2005. She entered Royal Academy of Music in September 2006 and studied with Prof. Paul Patterson. In the year of 2008-2009, she participated in an exchange program at Indiana University School of Music in U.S. and studied with Prof. Don Freund. In 2008, She won the BMI Students Composers Scholarship for her orchestral piece "The Peony Pavilion". In 2010, she won the first place for her flute trio "Opera in Tubes" in the MTNA Composition Competition in the USA with a 3,000 dollars cash prize and a public performance in New Mexico. In May 2010, she was invited to write a piece for guitar duo for Sounds New Festival in Canterbury and the piece "Ambush on All Sides" had its premiere performance in that festival. She has composed works such as piano suite, piano trio, songs, solo violin, sextet, string quartet, chamber music, some pieces for adverts and film themes and orchestral works for Media Showcase Concerts each year in RAM. She finished her study in the Academy with BMus degree (honours) in July, 2010. She is currently doing a Masters in Composition at Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London and studying with Prof. Paul Newland.
