Michail Palaiologou was born in 1981; he studied Mechanical Engineering (BSc) in the Serres Institute of Technology (Greece) from 2001 to 2005. At the same time, he obtained his artist’s Diplomas in counterpoint, harmony and instrumentation of wind instruments at the Conservatory of Serres under the supervision of Ina Nikrasova-Papadopoulou, with whom he also studied composition, orchestration and piano.

In 2006, Michail received a scholarship to study composition in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Professor Dr. Paul Newland and his is currently studying with professors Dr. Richard Baker and Julian Anderson.

During his time in Guildhall he has been involved in a series of projects and festivals, including “Voice Works” (2007, UK); “Music for the Light” (2007, UK), “Dance Umbrella” (2008, UK), “Paxos International music festival” (2008, Greece) and the “EKON/Greek Music and Performing Arts Festival” (2009, UK). His music has been performed in UK venues, including Wigmore Hall (London), Bishopsgate Institute (London), Barbican Art Gallery (London), Louis T. Blouin Art Gallery (London), Birkbeck College (London), The Vortex (London), West Road Concert Hall (Cambridge) and abroad, including Paxos IMF (Greece), "Melina Merkouri" Theatre (Greece), Theatre of Northern Greece and Center of the Arts-Eagle Rock (Los Angeles, USA).


Michail is closely collaborating with the Poet/Intermedia Artist Demosthenes Agrafiotis, the poet Stephen Mooney, the pianists Martyna Jatkauskaite and Eliza McCarthy and the E.M. Composer/Intermedia Artist Gustav Andre.

Michail’s recent collaboration with D. Agrafiotis, Chinese Notebook has been published at Readings Web Journal and poiein.gr, while their collaboration Under Constraints will be soon published at PORES web Journal as well as poiein.gr

His future engagements includes the multimedia installation project “Hommage A Piranesi” in collaboration with D. Agrafiotis and G. Andre commissioned by the EKON Festival (November 2010-London, UK); a new work for Amplified Piano and Electronics, commissioned by the Sounds New Festival (May 2010-Canterbury, UK) and a new work for Mixed Ensemble (15) commissioned by the Ensemble ERGON and the Paxos Festival (April 2010-Megaron, Athens, GR)

Michail Palaiologou is supported by the City of London Corporation and the Music Students Hostel Trust.
